BIOGRAPHY
Lucinda Vardey is a writer and teacher of the spiritual life. She is particularly interested in Eastern religious philosophies and practice as they relate to the western religions, and of the mystical and feminine experience of the Divine.
Born in England into a creative family – her mother and maternal grandparents were all writers, her father an artists and musician – Lucinda emigrated to Canada in l970 establishing a career in book publishing. She founded her own company of international literary agents in l977 and for eighteen years, while managing a large office in Toronto, she developed an English agency in London and an affiliation in Sydney, Australia. She represented many well known award-winning writers, but was called to a dramatic change of life and work through illness and she sold her companies to focus on her new-found vocation.
Trained as an experiential teacher and gestalt facilitator in the North American School of Gestalt and Experiential Teaching in California, she also studied yoga in a Hindu ashram and now teaches classical yoga for Christians with an emphasis on following Christ as Guru. In addition she offers non-denominational soul development weekend retreats in Canada and weeklong summer pilgrimages in her and her husband (the writer John Dalla Costa)’s retreat house in Tuscany, Italy.
Lucinda is presently on the faculty of the Toronto Transpersonal Therapy Centre’s Living Spirit three-year programme and is a founding member of The Catherine Collective, recently formed to help Women in Need with special emphasis on aiding women in Afghanistan, and co-sponsored the 200l Anima International Conference on the Soul of the Feminine in Toronto.
