Shiri's Story:
Shiri R. Joshua, M.A. (Couns. Psych), OACCPP is a Child & Family psychotherapist, a certified Ice Hockey Coach, a Goalie, an Educator, and an animal lover.

Shiri acquired her professional training in counselling psychology in Toronto, Chicago, California, and Israel, as well as further post-graduate training in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy, Animal Assistant Therapy, and Bereavement Studies.
Shiri works as a clinical Child & Family psychotherapist and a
Pet Loss Bereavement Counsellor at her North York, Ontario office. She is the director and founder of the
Canadian Centre for Pet Loss bereavement (CCPLB).

A long time animal lover herself, Shiri is currently owned by her
three rabbits: Elite, Armani, and Chips, as well as two newly rescued kittens: Pfizer & Bauer, who serve as therapy animals for some of her young (and old) clients in aiding with social skills development, and relief from anxiety and depression

For years, Shiri has been fascinated with the issue of the Human-Animal Bond, and the incredible contribution of animals. Her own journey of the loss of her beloved rabbit, Zoë, along with her great interest in this area of study brought Shiri to apply her specialized training in dedicating her practice to providing counselling, support, and education on the issue of dealing with the loss of a pet. Shiri has passionately helped guide many bereaved pet owners in a journey out of their isolation and grief.

Shiri's focus is on education. She is a guest speaker at a number of professional Animal Welfare Events, such as the Annual OAVT Conference and also held a regular spot teaching at the Toronto Learning Annex. Shiri currently offers Professional Development seminars (CE Credits approved) to numerous Veterinary Hospitals clinics, College students (Animal Worker program), and Animal Welfare organizations across Canada. Shiri is a current member of the Association for Pet Loss & Bereavement, and the Human-Animal Bond Association of Canada.

Since 2003 Shiri's work has been attracting much interest in the media. Her work was featured on: Global Television, City TV, CTS TV, The Mirror, DOGS, DOGS, DOGS, Toronto's 24 Hours, The Toronto Sun, Money Sense Magazine, St. Catherine’s The Standard, Winnipeg CJOB live radio, and Maclean's Magazine.
